Welcome to junior high! Together, we will make this a fantastic year for your child.
I graduated from the College of Mt. St. Joseph in 1998, however my classroom teaching career did not begin until 2002. Prior to that I was a district trainer, an HR organizer and a training consultant for a large local business. It was in 2002 that I realized it was time to return to my true calling: classroom education.
I have been teaching seventh and eighth grade language arts for the past six years. This year I will be focusing on seventh grade. Seventh grade is a time of tremendous growth in writing and analyzing skills. I look forward to shepherding your child through this period.
Following are awards that recognized my creative usage of technology in the classroom as well as excellent content knowledge:
- National Teacher Award, May 2004
- ETS Recognition of Excellence, June 2004
- Learning Links Grant, September 2005
- Expo Teacher Classroom Makeover, 2006
- National Teacher Award, May 2006
In addition to the above awards, I keep abreast of advances in technology and education by attending workshops and classes throughout the year. I believe to be a teacher also means you are a lifelong learner.
Communication is extremely important to me, and to facilitate better communication, I maintain a website. Each week, I update it with important information, links to increase comprehension of topics and a weekly homework page. My e-mail is on this website so that you may contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
