Mrs. Steffenie Brueneman

I am extremely happy to be joining the Our Lady of Grace family. I graduated from Wright State University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, as well as my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in curriculum and supervision. I have been fortunate to be part of Catholic education for the past seventeen years (my entire career), all of which were at St. James School in White Oak. During my years at St. James, I taught third, sixth, and eighth grade students, worked as the part-time Dean of Students, and most recently as the full-time Assistant Principal. While I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to explore educational administration, teaching has been and will always be my true passion. Therefore, after much prayer and reflection, I decided to follow my true calling and return to classroom teaching.

My philosophy of education stems from one of my favorite quotes. Dr. Dunn said, “If they can’t learn the way we teach them, teach them the way they learn.” I strive to create a learning environment based on high expectations and mutual respect. My sixth grade classroom will be one that is welcoming to all students. I will help my students feel confident to ask questions, share opinions, and make mistakes in order to maximize their learning.

I am truly excited to be the new the sixth grade religion and social studies teacher at Our Lady of Grace. I look forward to helping my students tap into their natural sense of curiosity as we travel back in time to explore history, and I feel blessed to be able to share our faith with my students and help them learn to follow Jesus as they develop their own Catholic Identity. My greatest success as a teacher is helping students realize that they have many talents and leadership potential, and that they can accomplish anything through hard work and determination.

My husband, Tom, and I have two wonderful children: Zachary (13) and Sydney (9). We live in White Oak with our lovable (but sometimes naughty) German Shorthair Pointer, Zeke. Of course we stay busy with their activities, but whenever we can find the time, we love to hike, camp, and fish as a family.
