I am truly excited to be teaching at OLG! My teaching experience includes 27 years with kindergartners and six years with second grade students. My love is definitely teaching kindergarten. I received my B.S. degree in Elementary Education with certification in Kindergarten and Remedial Reading from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. I am also an Advanced Catechist.
I believe that children are precious gifts from God. While they are in my keeping, I must nurture their intellectual, social, physical, spiritual and emotional needs so they may grow as a whole person. I believe that children need to be engaged in their learning. All their senses need to be involved. The activities I utilize demonstrate my understanding of different learning styles and the interests and abilities of my students. I enjoy teaching using themes that stretch across the curriculum. I want the children to love learning and have fun making new friends.
I grew up in a small farming community in southwestern Michigan and enjoy returning to the country for vacation. I moved to Cincinnati when I married my husband, Dan, 37 years ago. We have three grown children — Mandy, Kyle and Allie I keep busy with my two granddaughters, singing with the Little Flower guitar group at 11:00 mass, and coaching the LaSalle Varsity cheerleaders.
